Description
This role serves as a front-line attorney responsible for a substantial caseload and the immediate handling of a variety of civil litigation matters in both State and Federal Court on behalf of Indianapolis/Marion County agencies.
Requirements
Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school. Valid license to practice law in Indiana. Must be admitted to practice in the Southern District of Indiana. Proficiency in legal research tools, including Westlaw, and familiarity with electronic filing and records management systems. At least two years’ experience in the practice of law as a licensed attorney which may include a judicial clerkship. Preferred candidates will have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas: federal civil rights, constitutional law, torts, or appellate practice. The litigation attorney is expected to have a thorough understanding of the litigation process, including legal writing, discovery, mediation, trial practice and civil procedure. The litigation attorney must possess strong independent judgment, time management skills, zealous advocacy skills, proficiency in legal writing and effective oral and written communication skills.
