Role Highlights
The Family Law Associate is a key contributor to our firm's success, collaborating with individuals and families on a wide range of family law matters, including divorce, custody, parenting time, child support, spousal maintenance, property division, and post-decree issues. This role involves managing client matters from inception to resolution, including contested proceedings, while delivering high-quality, cost-effective legal services. The associate engages in meaningful client, court, and professional interactions, balancing independent responsibilities with teamwork to ensure seamless support, strategic advocacy, and efficient handling of all matters.
Primary Focus
- Client Advocacy: Advise and represent clients in family law matters, including divorce, custody, parenting time, child support, spousal maintenance, property division, and post-decree disputes.
- Case Strategy and Litigation: Develop and implement legal strategies, manage discovery and motion practice, and represent clients in mediations, hearings, and trials.
- Financial Analysis and Settlement: Analyze financial information, evaluate marital and non-marital assets, and develop effective settlement strategies.
- Matter Management: Manage multiple client matters and deadlines while supporting and collaborating with multiple shareholders. Gradually assume primary responsibility for leading cases, serving as a key client contact, and driving matters toward successful resolution.

Core Requirements
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school with a record of strong academic achievement.
- Licensed to practice law in Minnesota and in good standing with the state bar.
- 1–4 years of experience practicing law as a licensed attorney in a law firm setting.
- Judicial clerkship experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and persuasively.
- Critical thinking skills, including the ability to analyze, synthesize, and organize complex information logically.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work product.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and competing demands.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Pro.
- Maintain high standards of professional conduct in compliance with the Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct.

- Compensation for this position, ranging from $120,000 to $140,000, is commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications.
- While performing this job's duties, the employee will have prolonged periods of sitting or standing and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
