This is a full-time, in-office position in our office in downtown Columbia, South Carolina.
We're looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and experienced workers' compensation paralegal to play an important role in our Workers' Compensation Department.
Compensation:$50,000 - $65,000 yearly
Responsibilities:- Review case facts and develop a plan of action with the attorney
- Verify coverage on E-case and set up a claim with the Insurance Company
- Draft Form 50s (hearing or no hearing)
- Call clients every 21 days with status updates
- Facilitate and monitor medical treatment and recommendations, orders, and referrals for authorization
- Promptly send all referrals to the adjuster or defense counsel the day you receive them
- Assist in coordinating/scheduling transportation and interpretation
- Monitor income benefits and ensure the client is receiving the maximum amount due (missing TTD checks)
- Update when the client has reached MMI, and work on obtaining Form 14B
- Identify when there are issues with a case and discuss with the attorney
- Ensure all calls, emails, and texts are saved in Litify
- Assist attorney during hearing, including managing and scheduling depositions and mediations, calendaring hearings, and preparing Pre-Hearing Briefs
- Facilitate the signing of settlement documents (Clincher, 19, 61, SM, etc)
- File the Form 61 (and Clincher if necessary) with the WCC and send the Clincher and 19 to DC (if requested) for filing with WCC
- Use SCWCC Ecase to monitor the claim and upload the proper documentation
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree
- One to Five Years of Workers' Compensation Paralegal experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Ability to type 50 words per minute or faster
- Tech-savvy and able to work in a fast-paced, cloud-based environment
- Great attitude and a focus on collaborative work
